My name is Valya Zaytseva. I am an architect and interior designer based in Berlin, and working internationally.
Over the past few years, I have worked independently and in collaboration with various architectural studios. With over ten years of international experience across diverse projects, I bring expertise in all architectural phases and scales.
My approach emphasizes creating atmospheric and innovative interiors and architecture through individual concepts and meticulous attention to detail, materials, and lighting. I oversee projects from initial concept to realization, including detailed design, custom element development, construction supervision, production management, and quality assurance. I focus on raw, solid construction materials rather than surface decoration, as I believe this approach represents the most authentic design philosophy.
Lighting and acoustics are integral to my design process, and I ensure they are thoughtfully incorporated.
When working with heritage buildings, I strive to balance old and new elements harmoniously. My experience includes significant projects involving reconstructing, rethinking, and repurposing existing structures.
My goal is to create functional and inspiring environments with a strong sense of identity.
I welcome projects across various sectors, including hospitality, residential, public spaces, and experimental designs. My portfolio includes work with fashion brands, artists, music venues, educational spaces, museums, event spaces, retail design, and residential architecture.
Between 2021 and 2022, I worked as a senior architect at Berlin-based studio Sub, known for its collaborations with Balenciaga and artist Anne Imhof. During this time, we developed several flagship stores for Balenciaga, a new headquarters in Paris, and concepts for fashion shows. Additionally, we designed the architecture for two of Anne Imhof’s exhibitions, where the spatial design played a pivotal role in the visitor experience.
From 2018 to 2020, I was a senior architect at Berlin-based Studio Karhard, where I led the development and supervision of K41, a large music venue in Kyiv, Ukraine. This 10,000m² project involved the complex transformation of a 150-year-old brewery from ruins into one of the most advanced music venues.
Here is a selection of my most recent and notable projects.
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to talk about potential collaborations.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.
